Hair loss is a serious issue that needs to be addressed right away. If one is not careful, they may contribute in speeding up its process without them ever knowing it. It is important to note that hair loss is a natural phenomenon that is experienced by a huge number of individuals all over the world. Even though it is a natural process, many were able to impede its progress slowing them down to a halt just by changing their habits. What Does Lifestyle Have to do with Hair Loss?

This is a pretty common question that is asked by many who are troubled about their hair loss. It should be noted that our hair is also a part of our body and as such, the way we treat ourselves will have a lasting impact to our whole body including our hair. For that matter, it is important that we do not take our hair for granted and take the necessary measures in order to protect them as well by avoiding some of these bad habits which include.

Smoking

Smoking for instance, is known to cause a number of complications to our bodies. These issues don’t show up right away but becomes more apparent in the long run. Smoking is one of the primary causes of premature ageing. People who smoke are prone in developing increased lines and wrinkles and a pale, drawn appearance but what is its correlation to hair loss?

As mentioned earlier, cigarette smoke can cause bodily harm and this is due to the thousands of chemicals, many of them toxic that can be found in a cigarette smoke. Our hair grows from follicles and will require a good amount of oxygen, vitamins/minerals as well as essential nutrients in order to function properly and trigger hair growth. Smoking however, can impede this function by affecting your circulation which can leads to impaired blood flow to your hair follicles. What this does is that this can lead to the disruption of hair growth/loss cycle and will eventually result in hair thinning and loss.

Excessive Alcohol

Alcohol intake on the other hand and its effects it not as serious as smoking but can also be harmful to our hair especially if one is a heavy drinker. The idea behind this is that those who drink excessive alcohol are prone to becoming dehydrated. Dehydration is a serious issue and can cause a variety of problems including hair loss. This is because as one gets dehydrated, their hair can become weak, brittle and more prone to split ends. Eventually this can also lead to breakage of the hair shaft and subsequent hair thinning.

This is the reason why moderation is key when drinking alcohol and it is important to know your limits when to stop drinking. All of these sacrifices will definitely go a long way in helping your hair not only look good but also stop hair loss.
